Alton Towers (3rd August)
On the 3rd August, twenty-three people travelled to Derbyshire to have a go on the rides at Alton Towers. Amazingly we all returned after getting only slightly wet on the rapids and without losing any shoes on Nemesis or Air. The highlight of the day was Jon winning a huge dog on a basketball game, five minutes after getting into the park. Another trip might be on the cards soon.
Summer Camp (28th - 30th July)
The annual Summer Camp was held at Howden School this year with 16 people attending over three days. The first day was lots of TaeKwonDo, the second day tasters of other martial arts and the final day was competition day. After many contests including sparring, kicking, breaking, self defence, Korean kicking drill, team dodge ball and a club record on the tap competition (150 for Anna Earl), Nick’s team won. There was also a vast amount of food consumed! Thank you to everyone who came and made this a good three days.
Christmas Meal (13th December)
The Christmas Meal will be held on the 13th December 2008. This is always a great event with lots of food, a raffle for fantastic prizes (a PS3 last year) and the annual trophy awards. As last year 99 people attended, this year we are aiming to get 100 people there. A letter will be out soon but ask Jon or Emma if you want more information.
Competition (13th July)

The competition on the 13th July was a great success. Well done to everyone who entered.
The Breaking was a hard fought competition with many original (if not always successful!) breaks attempted. The Senior Breaking Champion is Jack Cade who won with a machine gun punch, vertical ridge hand and speed heel kick combination. The Junior Breaking Champion is Rebecca Hall who surprised us all with her spirit and power.
The Pattern competition was also of a high standard. The Senior Pattern Champions are Alex Sullivan and Lee Say. Both of their patterns excellent and couldn’t be decided between.
The Sparring competition was excellently attended with over 35 fights overall. There are too many winners to list here but everyone put their hearts into the fights and there were more than a few bruises the next day. The Top 14 Fighters did especially well. This coveted trophy was contested by Nick Pinchbeck, Paul Bates, Chaz Cade, Ben Foster, James Mossetto, Alex Sullivan, Rick Williams, Craig Temperton, Martyn Carruthers, Tom Kingston, Jack Cade, Simon Todd, Scott Brown and Lee Say. This competition produced some excellent fights (a special mention to Tom here - if you don’t know why, don’t ask!) and resulted in Nick Pinchbeck being crowned Sparring Champion after fighting James in a very close final. Craig beat Paul in the equally close 3rd/4th place fight.
As soon as the DVD is ready we will let you know.

There will be another competition next year, start practising now!
